As part of the Federal Government's 'Welfare to Work' initiative, Work Solutions Australia's consultants participate in the delivery and coordination of Job Capacity Assessments (JCA's). JCA's are comprehensive assessments of a person's ability to work. The assessments involve identification of barriers to employment and the subsequent identification of interventions which may assist the individual in overcoming these barriers. Job Capacity Assessments

The HSA Group, through Work Solutions and Health For Industry, is a major provider of Job Capacity Assessments, a new Australian Government program that started on 1 July 2006.
The program aims to assess a person's capacity to work and any barriers or impediments that prevent them from getting a job.
People undergoing an assessment will typically be claiming or receiving government benefit payments and be referred for assessment through Centrelink or a job network provider.
Our specially trained staff assess a person's work capacity, identify any barriers to work and connect them directly to employment or support services that suit their individual needs.
Job Capacity Account Services
A special account-the Job Capacity Account-has been set up by the government to fund services to help people referred for Job Capacity Assessments who have pre-vocational barriers such as medical conditions or personal factors.

The objective of Job Capacity Account services is to help these people overcome, manage or work around their pre-vocational barriers.

The HSA Group, through Work Solutions and Health For Industry, has developed and delivers four Job Capacity Account services:

Pain management: a comprehensive 8 week program tailored to assist clients in the management of pain. Also includes a physical conditioning program.

Anxiety: a comprehensive 8 week program focused on reducing anxiety and panic in a variety of settings. Provides clients with tools to combat anxiety resulting from phobic/panic/social/ traumatic/generalised anxiety.

Job Placement & Re-deployment

With the right care and support the vast majority of people who suffer a work-related illness or injury make a successful return to their workplace.

However, for a significant minority, a return to their pre-injury workplace isn't possible. This can lead to people being caught in 'compensation limbo'-costing the community millions of dollars and leaving the unemployed worker at risk of developing psychological complications.
Job Placement and re-deployment programs help these injured workers find new jobs.
Work Solutions in South Australia recently developed and launched an innovative job placement program-Job Connect.

This saw us quickly establish ourselves as market leaders achieving a success rate of more than 50%, well above the market average of around 15%.

The success of Job Connect is derived from the completeness of the package-we are there from day one, we use a multi-disciplinary team, we establish clear goals aimed at real jobs, and we work in partnerships with the worker.

In some states, Work Solutions provides vocational rehabilitation services under the DEEWR framework. For more information, please see the following Information Pack to clients. For your information, presently we provide the service in SA and Victoria only.

Job Analysis & Worksite Assessment
Work Solutions occupational therapists and physiotherapists provide these services to determine if the physical and psychological demands of a job match the skills and attributes of a worker.

A job analysis measures the inherent demands of a particular job or task.
A worksite assessment determines the demands involved in a particular role and its suitability for an individual with an injury or disability.

Together these services:

allow employers to segment job tasks to better suit occupational demands
help minimise injuries, and
enhance staff retention and early return to work.
